Have you seen the limescale inside your kettle? I hadn’t looked inside mine for months and what I saw shocked me! Go on, take a look yourself – you’ll be disgusted.
Limescale starts from minerals that are found in water, but believe it or not those minerals started in rocks before being filtered through our tap water. By boiling water, those minerals start to separate and this then leaves a microscopic layer that builds and builds, eventually attracting bacteria too.
To remove, simply fill your kettle half-way, then spoon in two tablespoons of citric acid and put it on to boil. Once it’s boiled, leave it for thirty minutes to get to work – and then depending on how bad your limescale is, it’s either vanished, or you can get something in there to scrub the loosened material away.
Repeat again if necessary, but you can avoid future build-up by emptying your kettle of water when it’s not in use.
Enjoy.
